This is a signed paperback copy of Thin Ice: Coming of Age in Grand Rapids, a unique literary collection published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. in 2007. Edited by Reinder Van Til and Grand Rapids City Historian Gordon Olsen, this 388-page volume brings together twenty eight coming of age stories from people who grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Some of whom went on to become notable figures including President Gerald Ford, Betty Ford, Al Green, Jim Harrison, and John Hockenberry. The stories span from the 1830s through the 1980s and capture a range of experiences, happy memories, personal traumas, intergenerational and racial conflicts, religious stricture, and young romance.

The book is in very good pre owned condition. There is minimal shelf wear, the binding is strong, text and pages are clean and unmarked, there a a few dog eared pages, and light staining on the text block.
