It follows the life and romantic exploits of Hikaru Genji the son of an emperor, who is demoted to commoner status due to political reasons. The novel explores themes of impermanence, love, social hierarchy, and the fleeting nature of beauty and power. The book is in very good condtion, the covers show light shelf ware and the spine has faded a little over the decades but the binding is strong, there are no loose or torn pages.
